LABORATORY DAIGNOSIS OF SYPHLIS:
They are non culturable like M.leprae
Specimen used is serum exudate from primary and secondary lesion.
1)Dark field microscopy: they are identified by spiral structure and slow movement and flourescent antibody staining.
2)Serological daignosis: Antibodies to trepanomal antigens.
Flourescent trepanomal antibody absorption test
trepanoma pallidum hematagglutination test
3) Antigens: Non specific-cardiolipin antigen
Group specific-Rieter strain
Type specific-Nicolls strain.
