IMMUNOGLOBULIN - G
IgG:
It is the major serum immunoglobulin. It has molecular weight of 1,50,000 and sedimentation constant is 7S. Distributed equally between extravascular and intravascular compartments. It has half-life of 23 days. The normal serum concentration of IgG is 5 to 16 mg/dl. It passes through placenta and provides natural passive immunity to newborn. It produces passive cutaneous anaphylaxis and participates in immunological reactions like precipitation, complement fixation, neutralization of toxin and viruses.
Subclasses – IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 & IgG4
Red – Disulphide link
Blue – Heavy chain
Green – Light chain
